Capt'n Willie has his ship called “Knowledge” drop anchor on ye’ shore o’ Lake Erie at Cleveland Lakefront State Park, (otherwise known as Edgewater Park), fer’ ye’ School Days Program. This here annual event welcomes a 1,000 or more knowledge thirsty students an’ provides ‘em with a great mix of interactive fun an’ learnin’ in a unique outdoor settin’. A variety of professionals supply ye’ children with infer’mation about nature, environmental issues, conservation, cultural history, recreation, art, safety, etc. This program is specially designed for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders from Cuyahoga County.

Whether by land or lake, it's time fer' you an' yer' crew t' be sailin' t' North Coast Harbor, (ye jewel of Cleveland's water front), fer' a weekend full of family fun an' learnin'. Thar' will be a variety of local an' State Service Organizations on hand who arrr ready an' willin' t' be providin' ya' with a wealth of knowledge, literature, hand-outs an' prizes too! Captain Chad Grubb an' his crew will sail their 65 foot schooner, ‘The Journey', inta' ye harbor. Also back by popular demand, is everybody's favorite salty dog, Captain Wayne an' his fishin' vessel ‘The Holiday'. A variety of grub and non-alcoholic grog vendors will be on hand t' serve up some of yer' favorite ‘fair style' foods an' beverages.
(Please keep in mind that although this is a free event, you'll be required t' shell out a few doubloons fer' grub an' grog if ye grumbellies should strike.)

Treasure the Beach Cleanup

Ahoy crewmembers! Ye Capt'n is really in need of yer' help! Arrr ya' a beach goer? Whether it's hot, cold or wet...don't cha' be lovin' the feel of clean sand smooshin' between yer' toes? If so, this is yer' chance t' get involved in a simple project and make a HUGE difference in our world! Nobody wants t' be kickin' off their shoes an' be walkin' on a dirty beach littered by cans, bottles, burger wrappers, old tires and dead fish. Yuchk!! "National Clean Beaches Week" takes place everywhere there's a beach starting the tail end of June and wraps up during the first week of July. The goal is t' be keepin' our beaches healthy all year round. Ye 2007 campaign was able t' round up thousands of pounds of trash durin' the cleanups. An' this was done by groups of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Here in Cleveland, ye' Capt'n will be at Edgewater Beach (Cleveland Lakefront State Park) Friday June 27th from 7:00pm - 10:00pm t' be gettin' our local cleanup crew psyched! You'll be makin' friends, laughin', learnin' an' dancin' too once the Capt'n gets a hold of you!

Shiver Me Timbers Crew! Capt’n Willie sails t’ ye’ western basin of Lake Erie where thar’ be many islands. Ye’ Capt’n will be droppin’ anchor in ye’ town of Put-In-Bay, Ohio on South Bass Island. (As a side note, this island played a very important role durin’ ye’ War of 1812.) While visitin’ Put-In-Bay, ye’ Capt’n will be educatin’ young swashbucklers about water an’ boatin’ safety as well as Lake Erie an’ her sister lakes. Put a little island in yer’ life crew. Hoist yer' anchor an' chart a course of adventure! Capt'n Willie returns t' ye shores of Lake Michigan fer' a weekend full a fun an' learnin' at "The Greatest Show on Water". Based upon ye weather we encountered in 2006 an' 2007, if yer' a storm chaser, this may be ye place fer' ya'! However, Capt'n Willie, as usual, is bein' optimistic by forecastin' sunny skies, gentle breezes an' temperatures that won't have ya' feelin' like ye fresh catch in a fryin' pan!
