Capt'n Willie ‘The Great Lakes Pirate' sails back t' ye' home of Lions, Tigers an' Red Wings oh my! He returns t' ye' MotorCity in an effort t' be edutainin' boaters an' landlubbers alike, (especially those 3-8 years old), about ye' ever important boatin' an' water safety. 	MARCH 2009 March 1st Henry’s 5th Birthday Party Ahoy mateys! Th’ Solon Community Center is where Capt’n Willie sails off t’ in order fer First Mate Henry t’ celebrate his 5th birthday with pirattitude! Since this party will be havin’ an all boy crew on deck, sensible salts should realize that things could get out of hand. If this happens, ye best believe somebody will be walkin’ th’ plank fer sure! March 7th Hailey’s 4th Birthday Party “Land Ho!” Capt’n Willie shouted, as he looked through his spyglass an’ spotted a place of adventure. That place is th’ Amherst Beaver Creek Reservation, where thar will be a huge pirate gatherin’. It’s Haileys’ 4th birthday celebration which will be overflowin’ with pirattitude. In fact, if yer not dressed as a pirate, you’ll be feelin’ out a place an’ wishin’ ye could walk th’ plank! March 12th-15th 17th Annual Spring Boating Expo Rock Financial Showplace – Novi, Michigan Avast ya' scurvy dogs an' landlubbers alike! Batten down ye' hatches as Capt'n Willie ‘The Great Lakes Pirate' navigates his way back t' ye' Rock Financial Showplace fer' ye' 17th Annual Spring Boating Expo. His mission is t' be t' be enlistin' an' edutainin' crewmembers both young an' old. Although his focus tends t' be on those swashbucklers age 3 thru 8, ye' Capt'n has learned while on his knowledge adventures that thar' be plenty of salty dogs who need t' be learnin' ye' importance of wearin' thar' lifejacket, never swimmin' alone an' respectin' one of ye' earth's greatest forces...The Great Lakes! May 20th School Days Program Cleveland Lakefront State Park 10:00am – 2:00pm Capt'n Willie, Th' Great Lakes Pirate has his ship called “Knowledge” drop anchor on th’ shore o' Lake Erie at Cleveland Lakefront State Park, (otherwise known as Edgewater Park), fer' th’ School Days Program. This here annual event welcomes a 1,000 or more knowledge thirsty students an' provides ‘em with a great mix of interactive fun an' learnin' in a unique outdoor settin'. A variety of professionals supply th’ children with infermation about nature, environmental issues, conservation, cultural history, recreation, art, safety an’ a whole lot more. This program has been specially designed fer 3rd, 4th an’ 5th graders who go t’ school in th’ Cuyahoga County area. Bet yer barnacles crew, th’ Capt’n will be sure t’ have young brains burnin’ from doin’ a lil’ learnin’ durin’ th’ 3rd Annual “Huron Water Safety Day.” Thar will be plenty of professionals on board t’ provide 3rd an’ 4th graders from th’ Huron City School district with water safety knowledge. In addition t’ Capt’n Willie’s lunchtime edutainment session, th’ list of speakers an’ educators includes, but is not limited to, the U.S. Coast Guard, American Red Cross, ODNR’s Division of Watercraft, Ohio Sea Grant, lifeguard instructors from Kalahari Waterpark Resort as well as a cast of respected law enforcement agencies and other services with a concern fer water safety. Not only will he be recognizin’ Jessica’s 6th birthday, he’ll be usin’ his “Keys of Knowledge” t’ educate th’ kindergarten an’ first grade classes about th’ Great Lakes an’ Water Safety. 	JUNE 2009 June 3rd A Dose of Laughter from Capt’n Willie Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital Cleveland, OH Aye crew, it’s true. Fer young swashbucklers an’ beauties alike, visitin’ th’ hospital is a scary thing t’ do. Some will be in-out patients an’ unfortunately, others will have extended stays. It breaks th’ Captn’s heart t’ be seein’ so much pain on th’ faces o’ these young crewmembers. So… in an effort t’ be givin’ back t’ his community an’ th’ city he loves so much, Capt’n Willie Th' Great Lakes Pirate is proud t’ be sayin’ that he has teamed up with th’ Children’s Hospital on th’ Cleveland Clinic’s main campus. Th’ Capt’n will be volunteerin’ two turns o’ th’ hour glass each quarter so he can provide patients an’ thar families with some Great Lakes knowledge, silly jokes an’ pirate booty too! Although he may not have th’ complete cure, it’s with a dose of laughter used as his medicine, that Capt’n Willie helps patients an’ thar families by takin’ thar minds off o’ whatever be ailin’ ‘em. This visit is good fer th’ soul o’ th’ Capt’n an’ helps him t’ be realizin’ how blessed he is t’ be havin’ a healthy crew of his own at home. May you an’ yer crew always be blessed with a treasure chest full o’ good health! June 10th A Summer Camp Visit from Capt’n Willie The Field House Aye aye mateys! Th’ good Capt’n sails into th’ City of Independence, Ohio in order t’ be helpin’ out th’ Field House crew with thar Summer Camp program. June 13th & 14th North Coast Harbor Boatin’ & Fishin’ Fest Voinovich Bicentennial Park (Behind the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Museum) Saturday 11:00am - 6:00pm and Sunday 11:00am - 5:00pm Shiver me Whether by land or lake, it's time fer' you an' yer' crew t' be sailin' t' North Coast Harbor, (ye jewel of Cleveland's water front), fer' a weekend full of family fun an' learnin'. Thar' will be a variety of local an' State Service Organizations on hand who arrr ready an' willin' t' be providin' ya' with a wealth of knowledge, literature, hand-outs an' prizes too! Captain Chad Grubb an' his crew will sail their 65 foot schooner, ‘The Journey', inta' ye harbor. Also back by popular demand, is everybody's favorite salty dog, Captain Wayne an' his fishin' vessel ‘The Holiday'. A variety of grub and non-alcoholic grog vendors will be on hand t' serve up some of yer' favorite ‘fair style' foods an' beverages. Fer young swashbucklers an’ beauties alike, visitin’ th’ hospital is a scary thing t’ do. Some will be in-out patients an’ unfortunately, others will have extended stays. It breaks th’ Captn’s heart t’ be seein’ so much pain on th’ faces o’ these young crewmembers. So… in an effort t’ be givin’ back t’ his community an’ th’ city he loves so much, Capt’n Willie Th' Great Lakes Pirate is proud t’ be sayin’ that he has teamed up with th’ Children’s Hospital on th’ Cleveland Clinic’s main campus. Th’ Capt’n will be volunteerin’ two turns o’ th’ hour glass each quarter so he can provide patients an’ thar families with some Great Lakes knowledge, silly jokes an’ pirate booty too! Although he may not have th’ complete cure, it’s with a dose of laughter used as his medicine, that Capt’n Willie helps patients an’ thar families by takin’ thar minds off o’ whatever be ailin’ ‘em. December 6th Children’s Holiday Party Cleveland Clinic Foundation December is certainly a month fer shiverin' ones timbers. That is of course, if yer spendin' time on th' North Coast. However, thar will be no chill in th' air durin' th' Children's Holiday Party at th' Cleveland Clinic's main campus. Capt'n Willie sets sail t' th' Clinic an' drops anchor fer two shows durin' this annual extravaganza. Th' Capt'n is excited about bein' invited back as a main stage performer fer' his fifth straight year!
